Mapped before touched
Sinus anatomy comes off the CBCT scan in 3D before surgery is scheduled.
- Sinus floor mapped
- Bone height measured
- Nerve positions read
- Staged written plan
Upper back teeth sit close to the sinus, and implants there need bone height the years may have taken. Dr. Carlo Litano, DMD maps the sinus on CBCT imaging and lifts and grafts the floor so a zirconia implant has ground to stand on.
When upper molars leave, the sinus drifts down into the space and bone height shrinks. A sinus lift restores the margin: the floor moves up, graft material moves in, and the implant site gets its depth back.
Sinus anatomy varies patient to patient, and flat films flatten it. The 3D scan turns the lift into a measured procedure instead of an estimate.

| Property | CBCT-planned | Flat-film estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Sinus anatomy | Mapped in 3D | Estimated from shadows |
| Bone height | Measured before surgery | Discovered mid-case |
| Staging | Lift and implant sequenced in writing | Improvised |
| Healing | Tracked with follow-up imaging | As needed |
Lifts are staged procedures, and the plan carries the case from scan to seated implant.
The scan measures bone height and maps the sinus floor, and the staged plan is provided in writing.
The sinus floor is gently raised and graft material with LPRF support fills the new space, under ozone disinfection.
Bone integrates over the following months, tracked with imaging.
A zirconia implant goes into the restored height, finished by the in-house lab.
Mapping, surgery, and the eventual crown all run on Mirror Lake: CBCT imaging, surgical operatories, and the lab.
Dr. Ulrich Volz developed the first FDA-cleared ceramic dental implant and founded Swiss BioHealth in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. Dr. Carlo Litano, DMD studied under him directly and uses the Swiss BioHealth protocol at his practice in the Tampa Bay area. Every biological case at Natural Smiles is planned, placed, and finished to the same standard.
Patients drive in from across Florida and fly in from across the U.S. A few in their own words, from 700+ reviews averaging 4.9 stars on Google, Facebook and Healthgrades.
"Took my now 19 month old here back when she chipped her tooth at 13 months. He was great with her. … Every one who works here is so pleasant. I will continue to make the 1 hour and 15 minute drive here just because of the atmosphere!"
"I drive over an hour each way to see these people but they are the best. Very meticulous and confirm to the idea of first do no harm. A rare thing in modern dentistry."
"This isn't your average or even better dentist, Dr Litano knows his craft, has all the best tools, and is exceptionally gifted to provide the best care in a way that makes you feel comfortable and safe. Highly recommend!"
The questions patients ask most before upper jaw grafting.
Upper back implants need bone height, and the sinus often lies where the bone used to be. The lift restores depth so the implant has ground to hold.
The CBCT scan measures it directly: bone height at the site and where your sinus floor is located. No guessing from flat films.
The graft matures over months, tracked with imaging, and the implant schedules when the site confirms. The staged plan sets expectations up front.
The lift prices within the staged implant plan. You receive a written estimate covering the full sequence after the scan.
