Zirconia implants
Metal-free tooth replacement that integrates with bone and stays inert in the body for life.
- Zero metal, zero corrosion
- Single-piece and two-piece options
- CBCT-planned placement
- Swiss BioHealth Protocol
We are a metal-free practice. Dr. Carlo Litano, DMD places zirconia ceramic implants, BPA-free composite fillings, and metal-free zirconia crowns, with biocompatibility testing for patients with sensitivities.
Metal in the mouth can corrode, shed ions, and set up galvanic currents between dissimilar restorations. A metal-free standard removes the question entirely: ceramic, composite, and zirconia at every restoration.
Conventional dentistry still leans on metal at every tier. The metal-free standard swaps each one for a biocompatible, tooth-colored material with no galvanic behavior.

| Property | Metal-free standard | Conventional materials |
|---|---|---|
| Implants | Zirconia ceramic | Titanium alloy |
| Fillings | BPA-free ceramic composite | Amalgam, roughly 50% mercury |
| Crowns | Zirconia, no metal margin | Porcelain fused to metal |
| Galvanic currents | None, ceramic is non-conductive | Possible between dissimilar metals |
| Material testing | Biocompatibility testing available | Rarely offered |
Dr. Ulrich Volz developed the first FDA-cleared ceramic dental implant and founded Swiss BioHealth in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. Dr. Carlo Litano, DMD studied under him directly and is the only dentist in the Tampa Bay area trained in the Swiss BioHealth protocol. Every biological case at Natural Smiles is planned, placed, and finished to the same standard.
Most patients arrive with a mixed mouth: amalgam here, a metal crown there. The plan replaces metal on a schedule your health and budget set.
Dr. Litano maps existing amalgams, crowns, and implants against a low-radiation CBCT scan and your health history.
You get a staged plan with priorities and a cost estimate before any work begins.
Amalgam fillings come out under the full IAOMT SMART protocol with isolation, capture, and oxygen.
Zirconia implants, BPA-free composites, and metal-free crowns rebuild each site, finished by the in-house lab.
Patients drive in from across Florida and fly in from across the U.S. A few in their own words, from 700+ verified 5-star reviews on Google and Birdeye.
"Found Dr. Carlo Litano, DMD through a functional medicine forum. Came in from Orlando for a single zirconia implant and walked out with a full plan for the rest of my mouth."
"Dr. Litano walked me through every step before he touched a tooth. Mercury came out clean, zirconia went in, and I haven't had a migraine since."
"Took both kids here after years of fighting about fluoride at our old office. Nobody lectured us, everything was explained, and my daughter actually asks when the next visit is."
The questions patients ask most about galvanic currents, materials, and replacing old metal work.
Dissimilar metals in a wet environment can set up small electrical currents between restorations. Ceramic and zirconia are non-conductive, so a metal-free mouth carries none.
Zirconia is metal-free and biocompatible, so it does not corrode or set up the galvanic reactions some patients have with titanium. Our in-house CAD/CAM lab places zirconia the same day in many cases. Zirconia implants.
BPA-free ceramic composites, color-matched to your enamel, placed after SMART-protocol removal of the amalgam. How SMART works.
Yes. Materials are matched to each patient, and biocompatibility testing is available for anyone with sensitivities or reactions to past dental work. Biocompatibility testing.
Costs follow the staged plan: how many restorations, which materials, and the sequence. You receive a written estimate after the consultation and scan, before any work begins.
A consultation with a low-radiation 3D scan gives you a written treatment plan and cost estimate before any decisions. Call (727) 300-0044 or request a visit online.
